Jared Schmidt, a rising star in Canadian ski cross, has been on the slopes since the age of two. Growing up in Ottawa, Ontario, he began ski racing competitively at nine and later transitioned to ski cross, inspired by Olympic teammate Brittany Phelan. His rapid progression in the sport earned him a spot on the national ski cross team after a standout 2017-18 Nor-Am Cup season.
Jared made his World Cup debut in 2019, and despite a serious MCL injury, he returned stronger than ever, winning his first World Cup bronze in 2021. At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, he finished an impressive 10th. In 2023-24, Jared made history as the first Canadian to win three consecutive World Cup ski cross races, cementing his status as one of the sport’s elite.
With a relentless drive and a passion for the sport, Jared continues to push boundaries and inspire the next generation of Canadian athletes.

When he's not racing down the slopes, Jared is an avid outdoorsman with a wide range of hobbies. From fly fishing and backpacking to drawing, reading, and surfing, he has a deep appreciation for nature and adventure. His connection to the mountains runs even deeper with plans to one day become a ski guide, sharing his passion for the sport and the outdoors with others.
Family is also an important part of his journey. Jared’s older sister, Hannah Schmidt, is a member of the Canadian ski cross team as well, making skiing a true family affair.
